Partnerships that nurture one of life’s greatest gifts: birth.

My philosophy of care

As women, mothers and birthers, we must remember this one simple truth: birth wants to work.

Physiologic birth was my imprint when I became a mother, but it was not when I was born upon this beautiful earth. I was born under the lens of birth trauma and inside my own postpartum as a new mother, I finally began to unpack those bags.

One of the first empowerments I offer families in my care is to consider how they were born. This potent beginning illuminates the truth that our gestational experiences offer us pristine opportunities to begin re-writing the stories of our own births, our own birth traumas, our gestational inheritances and our core values as it pertains to our integrity, our vitality and our bodily autonomy.

If birth wants to work, we must orient ourselves to the channels of knowledge that assist us in understanding the gift of birth physiology and the natural, innate unfolding of a self-directed birth. We must unpack, fully, the fears that hold us back and engage respectfully with the care providers we choose to collaborate with and the ones who stand as guardians at the thresholds of birth.

I believe in every woman’s ability to birth her baby, and I am here to witness you with love, trust and truth.

“When we remember that the knowledge of birth is within us, we find we need to rely less and less on others to create the experience for us.”

- Whapio Diane Bartlett, Midwife

A tender holding for mothers who wish to close the energetic space of body and mind following the expanse of pregnancy and birth. This guided meditation honours the teachings of Clara Alfaro Peña as shared with me. Clara was a grandmother, Midwife and healer from the state of Gunajuato, Mexico.

During this ceremony, nine points on the mothers body are held and honoured with traditional rebozos.
