Birth Wants to Work
As women and mothers we must remember this one simple truth: birth wants to work. If birth wants to work, we must orient ourselves to the channels of knowledge that assist us in understanding the gift of birth physiology and the natural, innate unfolding of what can be an empowered, self-directed birth.
I believe in every woman’s ability to birth her baby, how she wants to and where she feels most safe. I am here to witness you with love, trust and truth.
“The word seamstress comes to mind when I think of our birth, and my own re-birthing… it would not have been the steady and safe triumph it was without her.”Tiffany, mama to Henry, Alba and Petra
Good to know
When should I reach out to hire a doula in Kelowna?
Ideally during your second trimester (between 14–26 weeks) to ensure availability around your estimated due date, though inquiries during late pregnancy are always welcome if space permits.
Where do you attend births in the Okanagan?
Wherever you feel safest birthing: at home, in Kelowna General Hospital (KGH), or Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH), collaborating respectfully with your chosen midwives or obstetricians.
Do you replace my partner or healthcare provider?
Never. A doula works as a calm anchor alongside your partner, giving them practical coaching so they feel fully confident and empowered throughout labour, while offering dedicated emotional and informational support that compliments your medical team.
How does the Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program (DAFGP) work?
If you or your partner identify as Indigenous, Métis, or Inuit in BC, the DAFGP provides up to $1,200 towards doula care. I assist families with the application process directly.
